I loved Julie and Jeff’s wedding at the Manchester Bath & Tennis Club. It was simple yet bursting with personal touches throughout. They held their ceremony along the beach just outside of the tennis club, where they later had their cocktail hour and reception. The ceremony was incredibly intimate, as they called up both sets of parents and included them in the ceremony, acknowledging their love and support.ย As part of the cocktail hour they had the Dear Abbeys, Boston University’s fantastic a capella group, come serenade them and their guests.ย Since they played tennis back in college, we made sure to get some action shots of them with their former teammates!ย On the dinner tables they had wines with personalized labels as well as favors inside Chinese envelopes as an homage to the Julie’s mother’s side of the family.ย All of this, with the water right nearby and sunset at their fingertips, made for an incredible night!
OPEN POSTSarah and I went to high school together, so when we reconnected over Facebook and ย I found out that she wanted me to be her wedding photographer, I was so honored! Weย met up again a few months ago in one of her favorite places–Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey. It’s a contemporary sculpture park with beautifully landscaped grounds. I couldn’t have thought of a more unique and fun location to catch up with her, get to know Sean, and make some lovely images of them together! I’m so glad Sarah introduced me to the park, and though it’s a ways away from Boston, I hope to visit there again soon.
I’ll be shooting Sarah and Sean’s wedding this August and can’t be more excited! Here are a few of my favorites from their engagement session…

I consider myself very lucky to know special people in Honolulu whom I can visit and ring in the new year with (for the second year in a row!). This time I had a week on Oahu and then made my way over to the Big Island for a few days. The time was spent kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, hiking across craters and lava flows, exploring black and white sand beaches, watching numerous sunsets (including one ABOVE the clouds!), stargazing, and taking in the sunshine and oh-so-many incredible views. Such an amazing way to welcome 2012!
OPEN POST2011 has been a special year for many reasons, but one that makes it most memorable for me is that I went from shooting weddings part-time to being a full-time wedding photographer. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without all of the wonderful couples that I’ve had the chance to work with on their engagements and weddings. Thank you so much for your trust in my work and for opening up your lives to me. It’s been a year of sweet moments, immense love, ย all-out celebration, and many, many special photographs, so I wanted to take this time to look back on some of my favorites from the year. I have some sessions from the last couple of months that I still need to share, but those will have to wait until I return from my holiday travels in January. Until then, you’ll see a few sneak peeks below!
If these images are any indication, it’s going to be a fabulous 2012…
See you next year!
OPEN POSTOne of the first things I ask couples when I consult with them about shooting their wedding or during our engagement session is, “How did you meet?” When I asked Ketaki and Sam this question, I was expecting one of the usual stories–meeting through a mutual friend, at school, at work, through a dating website, etc.–and instead heard an answer that is less typical for this region of the world yet is personally very close to me since my parents were brought together the same way: arranged marriage. I think it’s common to misconstrue the concept and meaning behind it, so I’m excited to share their photographs which help show what I think it boils down to: two people being brought together who otherwise wouldn’t have met, who have incredible respect for and trust in their families and their culture, and who have another way of viewing marriage and how that relationship can develop. And, of course, two people who are so, so excited to be together. :)
Here are some of my favorites from our stroll through Beacon Hill and the Public Garden…
