Allison and Steve were married on Cape Cod, right in Allison’s aunt’s backyard. It was my first time at the Cape, but the outdoor ceremony and tented reception overlooking the water was probably as much my dream as a photographer as it was Allison’s for her own wedding!
They had sweet little sea-inspired accents like starfish boutonnieres and seashell cupped bridesmaid bouquets, as well as oysters (on a boat!) and made-to-order sushi for guests to enjoy. My favorite part of the whole day though was seeing Allison and Steve on the dance floor together. It was so fitting that Steve’s best man’s speech compared marriage to dancing: you choose a partner you know you’ll work well with, try not to step on each other’s toes,ย make adjustments as you go,ย and just have fun as you move together. So I think it was a great sign when Allison and Steve came alive together on the dance floor. They couldn’t wipe the smiles from their faces and it was evident to everyone watching that they make an amazing couple!
Here are some of my favorites from the day..
OPEN POSTKate and Garrett were married on the first day of August. Kate and her bridesmaids prepped at her grandmother’s house, after which the ceremony took place at the Immaculate Conception Church in Nashua, New Hampshire. Everyone then headed to The Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, Mass for the reception. This might’ve been my favorite venue to shoot at this year. Really, a celebration at a gorgeous, renovated barn with green, rolling hills in the back? Heaven.
This was probably one of the more colorful weddings I’ve been to as well, in terms of being detail-rich. Some fun elements of the day: Kate’s red heart wedding shoes, the bridal party outfits (bridesmaids in all different colors, with coordinated groomsmen’s ties), the wildflower bouquets, escort cards made to match the linens, handmade paper cranes hanging from the barn entrance, a photobooth, cake toppers that paid homage to their alma mater, etc.
If I could have, I would have included every image from the wedding in this blog post–no joke–but hopefully these will suffice!
Thanks so much, Kate and Garrett, for having me there!
OPEN POSTLisa and Brian were just married this past weekend in Cambridge, so you’ll see the wedding on the blog soon enough, but first: their engagement photos! I remember the day of the session Lisa had forgotten her cell phone and we were waiting in different areas of the Boston Harbor Hotel, where we were scheduled to meet up. The minutes were ticking by and I still hadn’t seen them or heard from them and I thought to myself, is this shoot even happening today? But ohmygoodness am I glad we finally found each other because it turned out to be one of my favorite sessions of the year. Lisa and Brian are so, so beautiful together. I don’t remember having to give much direction at all because they naturally just gravitate towards each other. The sweet looks and moments between them are so easy to capture because, really, they are just happening every second. :)
We spent some time strolling along the wharf, from the hotel towards Christopher Columbus Park. Such a fun session!
Can’t wait to share the wedding soon!
OPEN POSTLiz and Jay were married at a dock on the Newport Yachting Center in Newport, RI at the end of July. As with all outdoor ceremonies, there was a Plan A and Plan B. Plan A was to hold the ceremony on the open dock, overlooking the water; Plan B was to move all chairs into the tent, where the reception would be taking place. The decision of which Plan to go with was going to be made about 20 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony time. I think that’s always hard decision to make because you want to hope for the best, but in this case, we had the fishermen to thank. If a seasoned fisherman looks at the skies and tells you a storm will be coming and it will be coming fast, you bet you’re going to listen. :)
They ended up waiting for the rain and winds to die down before beginning the ceremony, giving the sun a chance to make a reappearance. Everything, rain and all, was beautiful. There was so much to love about this wedding–my favorite being that there were equal parts tears and laughter (and many times tears due to laughter). So much happiness!
OPEN POSTA sneak peek for Phiyen and Jackson. This is when they were being introduced at the reception, and, upon the DJ’s request, Jackson began dancing for his bride. :) ย Love it so much!
