You may remember Richard and Alex, whose engagement session I shot earlier this year at the Liberty Hotel. Their wedding took place at the end of June and the day came together beautifully, and not without the help of some close friends who contributed their time and love. Some of the touches that made the day so personal: the seriously amazing floral centerpieces put together by their friends; the many, many photos of Richard and Alex through the years hung up on display; their dear friend who did a wonderful job officiating the ceremony and incorporating Richard and Alex’s vows; and, lastly, a fun mad lib during a toast that really got all of the guests involved and made for a great laugh. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge made for a fabulous backdrop for the event, too!
Some images from the day..
OPEN POSTI almost always meet clients before their wedding day, but I love doing engagement shoots because it gives me another opportunity to learn even more about them and their relationship. During this shoot I got to hear about how Phiyen and Jackson have been together for a long, long time, how they’re fortunate to have family nearby, and how they’re so immersed in each other’s families that they enjoy home-cooked meals with each side pretty much every week. How sweet!
We met up near the aquarium to start, then walked along the wharf, up to Christopher Columbus Park, and eventually rushed our way to Beacon Hill just before all natural light was mostly gone. I’m not even kidding about the rushing, either; I remember that day I immediately went into power-walk mode! :)
Some favorites..
Thanks again, Phiyen and Jackson! Can’t wait for the wedding in a couple of weeks!
OPEN POSTMore of what’s coming up: Lorenna & Justin, who got married at MIT. :)
OPEN POSTChristina and Matt were married last month at HighRock church in Arlington. Before the ceremony, I spent the afternoon with Christina and her bridesmaids, who were having fun getting all dolled up. This was my first time shooting the bride getting ready in the house where she grew up. There’s something very special about this experience that I don’t think you get from getting ready in a pretty hotel room or any other place. It’s so personal and so symbolic–I only wish all of my couples could prepare for their day in such meaningful spaces!
After the ceremony, we headed to the deCordova Sculpture Park (such an amazingly cool location) to get some formal portraits and then were off to Cafe Escadrille in Burlington to kick off the celebrations. I had SO much fun shooting this wedding!
Here are just some of my favorites.
Thank you, Christina and Matt, for such a beautiful day!
