Liz and Jay were married at a dock on the Newport Yachting Center in Newport, RI at the end of July. As with all outdoor ceremonies, there was a Plan A and Plan B. Plan A was to hold the ceremony on the open dock, overlooking the water; Plan B was to move all chairs into the tent, where the reception would be taking place. The decision of which Plan to go with was going to be made about 20 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony time. I think that’s always hard decision to make because you want to hope for the best, but in this case, we had the fishermen to thank. If a seasoned fisherman looks at the skies and tells you a storm will be coming and it will be coming fast, you bet you’re going to listen. :)
They ended up waiting for the rain and winds to die down before beginning the ceremony, giving the sun a chance to make a reappearance. Everything, rain and all, was beautiful. There was so much to love about this wedding–my favorite being that there were equal parts tears and laughter (and many times tears due to laughter). So much happiness!
